Obituary of Dorothy Christine Kies
Dorothy Kies, 85 years old, died peacefully at home on September 30, 2018, surrounded by her family. The daughter to Maurice and Alice Napier, Dorothy was born on January 15, 1933 in Akron, Ohio.
Dorothy was a member of Holy Family Church. She enjoyed sewing her "bed buddies", singing in water aerobics, baking at Christmas time, creating exciting theater costumes with her best friends, lunch with her Natatorium girls, and phone calls and visits from her devoted family.
A lifetime member of Weathervane Playhouse Woman's Board, Dorothy spent 30 years as an active member of the costume department.
A gentle person of quiet faith, Dorothy, above all, loved her family and lived her life with grace.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Jim Kies, and her son-in-law, Les Harget. She is survived by her brother; Pete (Marilyn) Napier, and her seven daughters; Sandy (Hank) Collins, Christine (Max) Schueneman, Mary (Vail) Brown, Patty Kies, Linda (Scott) Wachter, Dee Harget, Shelly (Ken) York. She leaves behind 27 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren to carry on her legacy of love, along with her dear friends Karen Licata, Larry Rider, and Cliff Marko.
Friends are invited to calling hours at Holy Family Church in Stow on Monday, October 8th from 10 to 11 AM, with a Memorial Mass immediately following at 11 AM. Her burial will be held privately at a later time.
