Obituary of Richard D. Palazzo

Richard D. Palazzo, Sr., 83, died October 31, 2018.

Born in Springfield, OH, he was a longtime Stow resident and member of Holy Family Catholic Church.  He played football for the Cleveland Browns Muni Football Assocication in the early 60's, as linebacker and halfback.  He remained a frustrated Browns fan for life!  He was inducted into the Summit County Softball Hall of Fame in 1999, where he also served as commissioner and secretary for many years.  Rick played third base fast pitch for the Polish American Club and still remained in contact with many of his fellow teammates.

When he wasn't on the ballfield, you could find Rick on the back nine at Prestwick C.C.  Besides playing golf, he also made golf clubs for many of his friends.  For a relaxing weekend, he also liked fishing and boating on Lake Erie.

One job Rick held was lineman at Ohio Edison, where he constructed high tension lines.  After going to school for engineering, he worked for Dineen Enterprises and Kent Machine, then formed his own company called Akron Engineering, working there until retirement.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Angie; daughter Cynthia (John) O’Brien; son Richard (Colleen) Palazzo; grandson Adam (Ashley) Zaher, great-grandson Colton, great-granddaughter Taylor, and step-grandchildren; John Michael O'Brien, and Daniel (Alison) O'Brien.

A celebration of his life well lived will be held Friday, Nov. 2nd, 5 to 8 PM at Redmon Funeral Home.  Mass of the Christian Burial Saturday 11 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, Fr.
