Obituary of Richard I. Lund
Richard I. Lund, 92, died November 18, 2018. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, he was a mechanical engineering graduate of Kansas State College after serving his country in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Lund was employed by the B. F. Goodrich Company for 38 years in facilities design and construction. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and a past president of the Puppetry Guild of Northeast Ohio.
He is survived by children, Stephen R. Lund of Cary, North Carolina, Jennifer R. Worringer (Steve) of East Windsor, New Jersey and Jonathan Lund (Suzanne) of Hudson, Ohio; and grandchildren, Nathaniel, Timothy and Jenna Lund of Hudson, Ohio. In addition, he is survived by niece, Susan Pinne (Terry) and nephew, Robert O'Neil of Kansas City, Missouri.
Richard and his pre-deceased wife, Leslie, will be interred together at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
After raising their children, Richard and Leslie remained actively involved with the Weathervane Playhouse where Richard worked on sets and building maintenance. Leslie developed theater programs for children. Richard became an avid gardener, joining a garden club and adding several beautiful flower beds to the back yard. As a volunteer at the Mustill Store in the Cascades Locks Park, Richard enjoyed explaining to visitors how the locks worked.
