Obituary of Dr. John Richardson Clugh

Dr. John R. Clugh, 92, went home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, November 25, 2018.

He was born in Akron, OH on June 2, 1926. John graduated from North High School in 1944 on D-Day and then enlisted in the Navy where he was a radio operator on the U.S.S. Haverfield Destroyer Escort during WWII. Afterwards, he graduated from Kent State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree, followed by his graduation from the Ohio State University School of Dentistry, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Science degree.  After practicing dentistry with his father, Dr. Ralph B. Clugh, in downtown Akron for four years, he became a founding member of the Stow Dental Group. He was a past member of the Church in Aurora, where he enjoyed being an active participant in Stephen, Emmaus, and Kairos Prison Ministries.  Also, he was a current member at Christ Community Chapel in Aurora, where he enjoyed Bible study and worship. John loved his family and traveled throughout his lifetime with them.  For the last four years, he lived life joyously at the Atrium in Aurora. 

Preceding John in death were: his wife, Barbara (nee Bullach), daughter, Caryn Curry, and sister, Shirley Liechty. He is survived by daughters:  Barbara (Corky Larsen) Clugh, Laurie (David) Norris and Christine (Greg Knotts) Clugh, Cathi (Rob) Eberly and Connie (Gary) Bost; grandchildren:  Shannon Nitzsche, John Pellizzari, Kenna (Glenn) Roop, Andrew (Kaitlin) Bost and Devin Grace (Michael) Guerrero; and great-grandchildren: Kaleigh, Hanna and Rebekah.

Pastors Mark Lile and Nate Hunter will conduct John’s service on November 29, 11:00 a.m., at Christ Community Chapel in Aurora, 252 N. Chillicothe Road, Aurora, OH, 44202. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Faithful Friends Ministry, 274 N. Chillicothe Road, Aurora, OH  44202 or the Two Foundation, 8578 E. Washington Street, Chagrin Falls, OH, 44023.
