Obituary of Elizabeth Clara Swindell

Elizabeth "Bette" C. (Kunchick) Swindell was reunited with her husband, Bill, on Thursday, December 13th as the Lord took her hand and peacefully led her home.

Born to Gotfried R. and Myrtle A. (Andrews) Kunchick in Long Island, NY on September 18, 1929, Bette came to the Akron area in 1950. She married William E. Swindell on December 24, 1953, and raised their family, remaining in the Stow and Akron area.

She worked for Stow Schools many years, and as a waitress for various restaurants.

Bette was an auxiliary member of the American Legion Post 566 since 1985, as well as the VFW 449, VFW post 3883, and the PLAV in Akron. She enjoyed playing Euchre and Bingo, spending time with friends, and she loved all animals. Most importantly, she treasured the love of her family and the time spent with them.

She is survived by daughters Cathy (Todd) Franklin of Akron, Karen (Mark) Opperman of Akron, and son William (Trena) Swindell of Gastonia NC., grandchildren, Paul “Randy”, Connie, Steven, Jessica, Christina, Jennifer, Jason, Daniel, and Rachel,  plus 16 great-grandchildren, and brother-in-law, Rick (Bev) Swindell, along with many nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Friday between 11 AM - 1:00 PM with services at 1:00 PM, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road in Stow, followed by Graveside service at Grandview Memorial Park Cemetery, 5400 Lakewood Road, Ravenna, Ohio.

If desired, donations can be made to any VFW, American Legion, or Animal Shelter in lieu of flowers.
