Obituary of Clinton Lewis Doolittle
Clinton Lewis Doolittle passed unexpectedly on December 29, 2018.
Clint was born in Binghamton, NY on December 11, 1948, and grew up in Greenville, PA the majority of his life. While growing up, Clint enjoyed playing sports, hanging out with his friends, and music. In fact, he played tuba throughout high school and college at Clarion State, where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology and Sociology. He went on to pursue a dual Master’s and Ph.D. program at the University of Toledo. While living in Toledo, he met the love of his life Dawn, who he had been married to for 44 years. His love of music stayed strong throughout his life and he was a DJ on the radio while in Toledo for WIOT.
Clint and Dawn were married in 1974 prior to moving to Boulder, CO to manage a record shop named Jacque’s Trap, a name he disliked. Shortly thereafter, they had their first child together, Mercedes. They returned to Ohio and then Michigan, having two additional children; Colin and Zara. Clint started his career in home theatre sales and management, a field he would work in the rest of his career. Clint was quite the trivia buff, especially when it came to sports and music. It was common ground for him to know the batting average of a ball player's rookie season. Within 20 minutes of talking to him, he would likely ask if you heard of a certain band in which very few people would have. This is because one of his hobbies was to visit The Exchange and buy random $1 CD’s to find the yet to be discovered artist or that song that gave you chills. He would call it a “chiller”. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with family, watching sports, going to movies for $5 Ticket Tuesdays with Dawn, and did we mention listening to music? Clint always said that his biggest accomplishments in life were marrying Dawn and raising his children.
He will be deeply missed by all that had the privilege of knowing him. He is preceded in death by his father, Lewis, mother, Vernie, sister, Grace Ritchie, and half-brothers, Roger, Carroll, and Keith Gilmore. He is survived by his wife, Dawn, daughters Mercedes and Zara Doolittle-Koran (Kim), son, Colin (Marianna), and grandchildren, Nicoley, Sidney, and Aiden.
Funeral service will be held 7 PM Thursday at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, where friends may call from 4 PM until service time.
