Obituary of Jean Ellen Wood
Jean E. Wood, 68, passed away January 13, 2019.
She was born in Akron, OH, the youngest of five children. She was a devoted mother and wife. She was a high school teacher at Cuyahoga Falls City Schools for 30 years before retiring in 2013. Jean was small in stature, but extremely tough. She battled and beat stage 4 cancer, she survived a heart attack, and she even survived 49 years of marriage to Gary Wood! Jean was happiest when she was in her garden surrounded by beautiful flowers, or reading a book with her dog curled up on her lap. Although, neither of these things could compare with the joy she got by spending time with family. Jean made the world a better place with her amazing (and at times slightly inappropriate) sense of humor. Anyone that met her, instantly loved her and she was always the life of the party. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her orneriness, and for her extreme love and generosity towards all people.
Preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by husband, Gary; daughters Jenny (Mark) Bindus and Julie Foutty; son, Steven (Michele) Wood; brothers, Patrick (Janet), Michael (Patty) and Dennis (Sherry) Flaherty; sister, Mary Ann Crawford; twelve grandchildren.
Pastor Rick Bowman will conduct service Friday 6 PM at Redmon Funeral Home, where friends may call from 5 PM until service time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
