Steve Pierce was one of the good guys you meet in life. They don't come along very often like him. Plain and simple. An unwavering friend. A helping hand. A chance to laugh and have fellowship. A great, wide open soul who noticed the beauty and the wonder of everything around him.
I first met him when he was still taking pictures for the Courier papers. He did his Art student teaching with me in the early nineties. We became fast friends. My kids called him "Uncle Steve" when they were little. Later on, he gave my son Andy his first job at the Coffee Mill. As we get older, we have to say goodbye to many of the people we've known and loved. This one really hurts. Cuts to the quick.
Thank you Steve. For all the wonderful things you did for all of us.

Steve was a friend for 25 years or more, we knew each other through photography. We had long times in between seeing each other, but always caught up where we left off. He will be remembered always. He was a great guy and an inspiration to a lot of people. I send my condolences to the family. Just cherish the good times and he will always be in your hearts. God bless you all.
Go with God my friend.

Steve's parents hosted traditional holiday meals for the family over the years. He grew up in a solid family setting with the support and stability all children need. I went with Steve's cousin Randy Fela to many of those family dinners. Steve and his brother Scott were great kids. Never in trouble and always friendly with a very kind heart. While I haven't seen the family in many years, my heart was very sad to hear of his passing. Peace be with you and your family Steven. Prayers for all.

I first met Steve when my children were blessed enough to have him as their art teacher at Indian Trail. We all adored him. I never saw him without a smile on his face, and he always had a warm "hello" and asked about the kids in later years. He was a person I can say without hesitation that I truly admired; an incredibly decent human being. Our family would like to express our deepest sympathy to his family. I pray you are comforted by memories. May God grant you peace.

There were few places that my first grade self adored more than Mr. Pierce’s art room. He always calmed my perfectionistic mindsets as I would look to him in pure panic and try my hardest to convince him that I needed to start all over. He had a way of calming me down by showing me ways to overcome my “mistakes” by learning new techniques and skills I had no idea about. He was so grounded. He was pure genius in my eyes and I only have the warmest memories when reflecting on the short time he was in my life but he sure did leave an impact.

Fly high mr. Pierce you will forever be missed. You were the best art teacher that I could ever have. I still have the picture that you gave me back in elementary school. Those memories will forever be cherished. I'm glad I had the opportunity to get to know you.

I thoroughly enjoyed every opportunity I had to work with Steve all the years at Stow/Munroe Falls High School. Not only was he a wonderful, kind hearted, and caring person but also a true professional in the classroom. I'm lucky I was able to see him on my last two visits to the high school. He is truly missed.

I’m sorry for your loss, pain and suffering. Whenever we lose a loved one in death we feel a sting and a void in our hearts, as if someone ripped part of our heart out. The pain seems like it will never go away. It will with time, or it will at least ease up. The Bible reassures us of that in 1 Corinthians 15:54,55 - “Death is swallowed up forever. Death, where is your victory? Death, where is your sting?” God promises us there will be no more death. (Rev. 22:3,4). Turn to him in prayer.

My deepest condolence to Steve's family and friends. I knew Steve from high school class of 1983, we were on yearbook together. Steve also taught all three of our children in Woodland Elementary and Stow High School photography class. He will be greatly missed, although our path only crossed usually at THE 4TH July run every year he ran and I worked for Parks and Rec, he always said hello with a smile and asked about my kids. Our whole Eiloo and Brown family gives our thoughts and prayer for comfort for Steve's family. Truely a wonderful person, role model and friend.

My sympathies to Steve’s family, Scott and Mr. and Mrs. Pierce. Jim and my dad were friends through their jobs long ago and we used to visit and play as young boys. We lost touch for some reason but I was floored when meeting the art teacher to both my high school daughters at Stow- Steve! He was a very kind and talented man! My daughters learned much from him and we will always have very fond memories of him.

Thank you, Scott, for all of the photos and stories about Steve you shared with our group over the years. I speak for us all when I say we feel as if we knew him and he had become a part of our lives. Yet we never met him. We have been reading the comments on all of the websites...the impact he made on his students and everyone he came in contact with is inspirational, to say the least. Our condolences to you and Judy, your parents, and his wife and children. And your community. His will live on in all of the lives he touched. Carol and Bill

I was a recent student of Steve Pierce, and I still can’t believe he’s gone. He was patient, inspirational, and intriguing. It seemed like you could never know everything about him. He was soft spoken and gentle, yet he was an ultra marathoner. He and his wife are regarded among my friends as the ultimate power couple of interesting people who were also really good teachers. I am not very good at traditional schooling, and he was extremely accommodating to my unique learning style; I even had an independent study facilitated by him that really helped me build a portfolio to go to art school. He was always very supportive of me and my goals.
From looking through my sketchbooks to helping me stumble through illustrator to letting me hang out in the loft of his classroom during my lunch period, I will always be grateful for everything he did for me. He truly helped me get through some very tough times.
Rest In Peace, Mr. Pierce. You left us too soon.

Steve was an inspiration to many many people in our community. Both of my sons had him as their art teacher in elementary grades as well as photography classes at the High School. He loved being behind a camera, and he had a way of getting along with all different kinds of people. Mr. Pierce was my photography teacher for two years in high school. His love for photography developed my love and interest in photography. His passion for photography showed through his teaching. I often think of the skills he taught me whenever I pick up a camera. I joined his photography club in high school for a few years, and I loved getting to do more with photography outside of the classroom. I am forever grateful for everything I learned from him. He was not only a great teacher, but he was a great man. I remember we both shared a love for border collies. I remember when photo club had a day where we photographed dogs. My border collie was one of them. I will always look at that picture you took of my dog and remember how excited you were to see another border collie. Many of the things I learned in his class can be applied to life in general. I am thankful that I had the opportunity to learn from him.
I will always think of you, Mr. Pierce, when I pick up one of my cameras. Thank you for the inspiration and the influence you gave me. I am thinking of your family during this time.
