Obituary of William E. Raymond

Bill Raymond, 77, of Stow, passed away Tuesday morning after a brief illness due to cancer.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Teodora (Dora) Ricci; sons, Michael  (Jeannie) and Dean Raymond;  four brothers and two sisters. He is preceded in death by son John; parents George and Rita; and in-laws Joseph and Beata Ricci.

The oldest of seven, Bill was born in Akron, graduated from St. Mary’s High School (1960), and attended the University of Akron.  He worked most of his career as an electrician at the Goodyear Stow Mold Plant for 34 years before retiring in 2001. He also served in the Army Reserves.

In his younger days, Bill was an avid bowler, loved reading, walking, live music and dancing, and coaching his sons' youth baseball teams. He loved sports, especially the Cleveland Indians. He also enjoyed traveling abroad with family and friends to Italy, Spain, Canada and throughout the U.S.

He was an active member of Holy Family Parish. Bill supported local Italian-American cultural events.  As a member of the Carovillese Club, he volunteered at spaghetti dinners, served as Vice President, Recording Secretary, and was honored with the 2004 Man of the Year award.  He was also a past member of the Italian-American Community of Akron Inc. (Le Radici).

Bill was a devoted husband, father and brother; loved by many for his easy-going nature and kindness.

The family encourages donations to benefit cancer research projects through the Ohio-based Pelotonia organization at pelotonia.org.

Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow for visitation Sunday, June 23, 2019 from 2 to 5 PM. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church, 3179 Kent Road, Stow on Monday, June 24 at 11:30 AM with Father Kevin Klonowski officiating. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
