Obituary of Kathryn Ellen Brown

Kathryn Ellen (Shuler) Brown, a long-time resident of Munroe Falls, died Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at The Village of Saint Edward Nursing Home in Fairlawn.

She was born August 28, 1933 in Philadelphia, PA to James Clifford Shuler and Catharine Russell Shuler, and grew up in Youngstown and graduated from South High School. She married Richard Brown on October 11, 1957. 

Through the 1970’s and 80's she volunteered at Good Neighbors of Munroe Falls, and served as their treasurer for five years.  Kathryn was president of the Stow Band Parents Association; Friends of the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library; served on many civic committees in Munroe Falls; and was an active member of the Stow United Methodist Church for years, being named “Woman of the Year” in 1983. 

Kathryn is survived by her husband, Richard; son, Kenneth (Marjorie) of Ellicott City, MD;  daughter, Nancy Kinser (James) of Munroe Falls; son, Robert (Sandra) of North Kingstown, Rhode Island; sister, Phyllis Jenkins (David) of Cortland, Ohio; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a large extended family. She took great pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her father, James Clifford Shuler; mother, Catharine Russell Shuler; sisters, Shirley Louis James (Bill), Margaret Ann Shuler; and brother, James Clifford Shuler Jr. (Nancy).

Calling hours are from 2 to 4 pm at Redmon Funeral Home in Stow on Saturday, July 20, 2019 where a funeral service will be held at 4 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, or The Village of Saint Edward, Fairlawn, Nursing Care.
