Kenneth Fenster

Obituary of Kenneth R. Fenster

Kenneth Robert Fenster went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 29, 2019 in his home surrounded by his wife and loving family.  He had lived a remarkable life of faith and integrity and will be missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

Ken was born on May 15, 1945, in San Francisco, CA, to Melvin & Barbara Fenster.  He is survived by a younger brother, Steven.

Ken married his high school sweetheart, Gail Laurel Stetson, 54 years ago on August 21, 1965, in Redwood City, CA.  Their marriage was blessed by three children, Elisabeth (Richard) Hill, Kenneth Mark (Karen) Fenster, Natalie (John) French and grandchildren Sophia, Chase, and Laura Hill; Stetson and Carter Fenster; Sara and Jacob French.

Ken graduated from San Jose State University in 1972, with a Bachelor Degree in Business.  He enjoyed a full career in Information Technology Management with a variety of employers, and was self-employed before retiring in 2016.  Ken’s career took him to from San Francisco to St. Louis, Hudson, Boston, Milwaukee, Sydney, Australia, Florida, and back to Hudson which became the place Ken and Gail called home.

Faith and family were vital to Ken and Gail’s lives, and they celebrated the decades of their marriage with life time trips to Hawaii, Europe, Israel, Australia, and capstoned their 50th anniversary here in Hudson with friends and family at Christ Community Chapel.

Ken was a member and integral part of the ministry of Christ Community Chapel, Hudson Campus, and over the years served as a Deacon and Elder.  He participated in Christian Leadership Concepts men’s groups, Bible Studies, and was a Community Group Leader.  His wisdom and wit were a gift to many.

Since retirement, he volunteered at Mobility Worldwide in Stow, Ohio, whose mission is to provide mobility carts throughout the world to those unable to walk, and to create meaningful volunteer work - all in the name of Jesus Christ.  At Mobility, Ken became an expert packer for the mission.

The out of doors was a special love of Ken’s.  Yardwork, hunting, fishing, marveling at God’s handiwork in creation always restored Ken’s soul, and he found refreshment and balance to his technical side there.  His personal faith in Christ anchored his life.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 3 from 3 to 5 PM at Christ Community Chapel, 750 W. Streetsboro Street, Hudson, 44236, where Pastor Jim Colledge will conduct a celebration of life service immediately following visitation at 5 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mobility Worldwide OH-Stow, 4381 Hudson Drive PMB #169, Stow 44224.
