For many years at our I/D/E/A Fellowship in Atlanta Dick was a stalwart leader and a friend to all. A pleasure to know of his dedication to students and family. Realizing he has gone before us leaves both a smile and a prayer. Best Wishes to the family.

I had a deep respect and liking for Dr. Clapp and enjoyed every interaction with him through my job at BoardDocs. I first met him at the Triple I Conference in Illinois where Michael Hanahan introduced us many years ago.
I absolutely adore his daughter, Amanda, and am keeping the entire Clapp family in my thoughts and prayers.
RIP Dr. Clapp

I only had the opportunity to meet Dick a few times but each time he impressed me as a wonderful, warm and caring person. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Certain men and women have an aura about them that makes others want to be around them. My father was like that. So was Dick. His kindness and good humor were like a magnet. A lot of important people are self-absorbed. Dick was just the opposite. He was a terrific listener who showed genuine interest in what other people had to say. And he never lost his appreciation and admiration for those in public education's trenches. My wife, Michele, and I miss him deeply.

So sorry to hear of Dick’s passing. For many years, he was a great /I/D/E/A/ friend. I was his seminar leader the first year he attended. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family during this difficult time. Bill Hall, Melbourne, Florida

It is so hard to put into words the impact Dick had on those with whom he came into contact. Simply, Dick was one of the kindest, most thoughtful and decent human beings I have ever known. To call Dick a friend meant you were instantly plugged into, and became a part of, the Clapp family. Reading his handwritten notes at Christmastime became a family tradition at our home. His notes were always written from the heart, in perfect penmanship.
Dick treated everyone with decency, humility and grace. He treated every staff member at our Firm like a member of his own family. He never shied away from telling you what you meant to him, and was quick to give you a hug and a compliment every time he saw you. A true servant leader.
I will miss him terribly. But I take this consolation - the world is a better place because Dick was in it. And I know that I am a better person for having called him a friend.
May God bless the entire Clapp family during this difficult time. Thank you for sharing him with us for so many years.

One of the saddest moments is when you hear of the loss of a friend and this a very sad moment for me. I met Dick over 30 yrs ago when as a member of the Woodridge School Board we hired him as our Superintendent. Over the course of time we became friends and after he retired and started his new career we kept in touch and Art and I would meet Dick and Polly for lunch or dinner just to catch up. I will miss those times as well as the laughter and friendship we enjoyed over the years. To Polly, Jenny and Mandy I pray that God will give you and I the strength to carry on without him.

What a blessing it was to know Dick Clapp. I had the privilege of being on the Woodridge School Board that selected Dick to be our superintendent of schools. He was a man of integrity and someone that we respected and trusted as school board members and friends. Don Schmidt
