John has always been family to me. I have memories of John for as long as I can remember. My dad and him have been friends since high school. I remember they always played penny any poker and us kids always played the waitresses, running them beers and snacks. We always fought to get to John first (he was always the best tipper). Then when my grandmother got very sick in 2018 I was visiting her and my mom. I remember my mom getting a call from John and her telling him dad was working. John said it was ok he wasn't coming to see my dad. John wanted to see my grandma and they sat and talked for what seemed like ages. It meant so much to my grandma having this man that she had known since boyhood come to visit her. She passed in early 2019 but I will never forget the look of joy on her face when John had come to see her. I will always miss him, and my heart is broken that he is gone far to soon. Rest easy John we love you.
