Obituary of John Jones

STOW - John R. Jones (Jack), 75, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 24, 2020. Jack is a follower and disciple of Jesus, loving husband, father, and grandfather. Jack was born to John C. Jones and Virginia Jones in Joliet, IL in 1944; his family moved to northeast Ohio in 1946. During his teens, he worked as a caddy at a country club. He graduated from Northfield Macedonia High School and earned his drafting degree. During his early adult years, he performed trick riding at a dude ranch in Baldwin, Michigan. He could fly airplanes, drive steer, and maneuver any kind of machinery or vehicle. He served six years in the Army National Guard. Jack’s passion was serving the City of Hudson as a volunteer firefighter for over 40 years. Not only was he a firefighter, he was a driver, trainer, mentor, and also assisted in preventative maintenance as an engineer. He also spent many years in the construction industry and was a heavy equipment operator for the International Union of Operating Engineers. He worked at Allstate for 16 years as a Lease Manager and a Senior Claims Representative. He was even a realtor for a time. You could often find him at the shooting range honing his skills, either alone or with his family. Jack also served with his wife, Pat, at their church, Christ Community Chapel, in Hudson. Jack was literally a “jack” of all trades and never met a stranger. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Patricia Jones; brother Jim Jones and his wife Judy; daughter Debby Cooley, her husband Craig, and their daughters Michelle, whom was recently married to John Der Ghazarian, and Heather; and son John V. Jones, his wife Maureen, and their son John B. Jones. He is also survived by his step sons Matt D’Avello, his wife Jill, and their children Gionni and Madison; and Dante D’Avello, his wife Kelly, and their sons Dante, Nathan, and Austin. Due to current restrictions, a church drive thru will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Christ Community Chapel from 8:45am to 10:45 am, 750 W. Streetsboro St., Hudson, Ohio, 44236. Please enter from the E. Streetsboro St. (Rt. 303) entrance and exit onto Terex Rd. It would mean a great deal to the family if everyone who knew Jack or the family would “drive thru” on that day. A private burial at Northfield-Macedonia Cemetery will follow the drive thru. The family kindly requests no flowers, either at Church or at the home. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the family via Redmon Funeral Home.
