Obituary of Charles David Adams

STOW - Charles D. “Chuck” Adams passed away peacefully on April 28, 2020, after reaching the age of 92. Chuck was born in Buckhannon, WV, to Dee and Bess Mae (Gaston) Adams. He had six brothers and two sisters. As a teenager, he met the love of his life, Libby. He adored her and would say so to anyone he met. They were inseparable and just celebrated their 67th anniversary. In 1960, they moved to Stow and raised two children, Vicki and Randall. Chuck was a millwright for many years and served as president of a local United Steelworkers union. He worked, retired and continued to work until well into his 80s. He had a very strong work ethic. He was a man who could take apart, repair, or build almost anything, at the same time collecting every tool he could ever need. Family and friends could count on him to show up anytime, day or night, when they needed help or advice. Chuck also took great pride in keeping a beautiful home and yard. He loved working on cars, riding motorcycles, playing pool, and baseball. He was a fun-loving prankster, loved to laugh and had the best smile! He had a very special place in his heart for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was always happy when he could spend time with them. He was a good man, loving husband, and a wonderful Dad (Pop) and Papa. He is so loved and will be greatly missed! Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers and sisters; and beloved in-laws, James and Opal (Jeffries) Taylor. He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth “Libby” Adams; daughter, Vicki (John) Altomare; son, Randy (Joleine) Adams; grandchildren, Elisa (Carl) Fisher, Derek (Emily) Adams, Brent (Katie) Adams, Cristina Altomare and Joshua MacMullan; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Nelson, Colten, Caroline, Colette, Lorelei, Holly, Felicity, and Juliet; sister-in-law Joyce (Taylor) Crites; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Chuck was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a Master Mason in the Franklin Lodge No. 7, in Buckhannon. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church in Stow.
