Obituary of Gladys Elizabeth Shaw

STOW - Gladys Elizabeth Shaw, 95, died August 10, 2020. Born in East Liverpool, Ohio, daughter of Bert and Laura (Greaves) Styles. Gladys was an executive at Norton Company until she retired at 65. Never one to sit still, she quickly realized she missed working and started as a hostess at Laurel Lake Retirement Community, where she worked for another 20 years. As the cherished matriarch of the family, her intelligence and work ethic were inspiring. Gladys was resilient and strong both mentally and physically, remaining active her whole life. She enjoyed gardening and was incredibly talented at crocheting. She loved music, dancing, socializing, and hosting Sunday family dinners. She could often be found sitting around the dining room table with family chatting for hours while drinking tea. Gladys better known as ‘Nan’ will be remembered by her loved ones as ornery, witty, and always the life of the party. Preceded in death by her parents; first husband and father of her daughters, Nick Cariglio; her second husband, Larry Shaw; brothers, Roy, Frank, Bert, Kenneth, and Albert. She is survived by her daughters, Nicki (William) Hudkins and Laura Cariglio; grandchildren, Cary (Cristi) Hudkins, Kris (Jamie) Hudkins, and Tiffany (Andrew) Bimshas; great grandchildren, Owen Hudkins, Caden Bimshas, and another on the way; as well as her beloved dog companion, Dooney. Private services for the immediate family will be held with interment to follow.
