Obituary of Karen Rose Curitore

HUDSON - Karen Rose Curitore, 63, passed away on October 12, 2020. Karen is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Stephen. She is also survived by her three sons, William (b.1984), Stephen (b.1986) and his wife Stephanie (Yoder) of Painesville, and Eric (b.1988) and his wife Maria (Davidson) of Hudson. In addition, she is survived by her siblings, grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles as well as many lifelong friends who truly were family. Karen was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 28, 1957. She was one of five children born to doting parents Harry and Jennie Caloger, along with brothers Peter and Joseph, and sister Lisa and twin sister Kathy (LaSorsa). Having moved across the Verrazano Bridge to Staten Island not long after Karen's birth, the family made their home in Eltingville. She graduated from St. Joseph's By The Sea High School in 1975, and obtained her Associate's Degree from Central Piedmont Community College in 1994. Karen and Stephen were married on May 22, 1982. Following the birth of their three children, they left New York City in 1988. In the ensuing decades, they raised their family in locales including Memphis, TN, Jacksonville, FL and Charlotte, NC before settling in Hudson in 1995. In 2010, having seen their boys grow into young men, they left another home behind. Their next destination marked a return to the central time zone with a three year stay in Chicago. Eventually, The Big Apple once again came calling and a return to Staten Island followed in 2014. Throughout her adult years, Karen showed a true wanderlust. Her favorite destinations included Paris, France as well as multiple Italian destinations. Florence always held a special place. It was her love for travel that led her to establish her own travel agency, appropriately known as Wanderlust Travel. She was free to devote much of her time to her grandchildren after retiring from Marriott in early 2020 after 18 years as Manager of Reservation Sales. Karen's last years proved to be some of the most rewarding of her life. With a return to Hudson, she reunited with old friends and was present for the birth of her two grandchildren Olivia (b.2018) and Madeline (b.2020).
