Obituary of Patrick Charles Butcher

Patrick Charles Butcher, 31, died October 12, 2020. He had a gentle heart, a heart that felt so much. He was the first person to rescue us when we needed help, no matter how miserable the conditions were. He was the first person to make us laugh when things were tense. He spent so much time and attention with each person he loved, which is the most valuable gift that can be given. He was the funniest person, and his laugh was infectious. He would laugh so hard at bizarre situations we would all find ourselves in that no one could resist joining him. Those laughs. The ones where no sound is even coming out. Those are the most lasting and beautiful memories. He endured so much pain during his lifetime, yet was such a bright spot in so many days. He never met a human he couldn’t talk to, and never made anyone feel small. He was a friend to all. Patrick was a lover of hot fudge sundaes, macaroni and cheese (he really cooked an inordinate amount of macaroni), taking long walks at night in weird places, falling asleep watching historical documentaries, loud cars, fast cars, making engines roar back to life, contorting his face and mispronouncing words in foreign accents to make us smile, his beloved dog Tuco, holding his little girl, spending time just being with the humans he loved, and above all else . . . laughing. Take the time to remember something about Patrick that makes you smile. That surely would honor him to be remembered as a person who brought joy to us all. Patrick was preceded in death by his grandparents Robert Morgan, Mary Lou Morgan, Burdette DeVos, and Charlene Thompson; and his infant twin daughters Brynn and Briar Butcher. He is survived by his mother Terry DeVos, father Ben Butcher, stepfather Gary DeVos, grandmother Carol DeVos, siblings Daniel DeVos, Maggie DeVos, Emily Butcher, Liz Bannister, Suzan Russell, and Chris Butcher, his sweet daughter Blair Butcher and her mother Shelby Butcher, and so many other beloved family members and friends. Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, in Stow for visitation Sunday, October 18, from 4-7 pm.
