My wife, Pat and I just found out about Rich's passing when bumping into Dave "the scrounge" out at Home Depot. The lockdown really put a damper on communication. Rich was one of those first names that went into my little phone book when I moved to Akron back in 1976. I've always been into sound equipment and music, hence the hanging out in Home Depot chatting/reminiscing about back in the day with Dave. Our deepest condolences to Patti and the entire family. May Rich rest well in God's arms.
Peace,
Bob & Pat Cesare

I met Rich in 1980. Just back from a stint in the army I wanted to pursue a career in film or TV. I literally opened the phone book and dialed up "Motion Picture Producers". Lo and behold the only listing was The Imagination Industry in Cuyahoga Falls. That started a 40 year mentorship to which his last advice to me was concerning getting an old M format video machine working, " You're almost there". I learned everything from how to wrap cables to how to operate an enormous 35mm Movie camera. Rich was a genuine guy that was always there when you needed him. He even got me a job when I was down in the dumps. God Bless You all. Rest assured we will see Rich again. In the meantime here's one film from 1983 that Rich helped us make. He stars and plays the richest man in the world: https://youtu.be/iGE4TX8omhM

Richard and I spent much of our childhood together, as he helped me with my paper route for years. Who else but Richard would build massive professional film projectors in his basement and invite his friends over to see the classics? We probably watched Parent Trap, staring Haley Mills, a dozen times. Oh such delinquents. Those projectors are now underground covered by route 77 since their family home had to make way for the expressway. God rest the soul of a very kind and gentle man, who didn’t have a mean bone in his body. I’ll miss his dry wit and his friendship. May his memory be eternal.

My husband and I both had the pleasure of working with Rich over the course of the years through the 80s and 90s. We worked at many theaters that are no longer around Village Twin, Fairlawn Cinema, Falls, Medina, Wooster and a few that still are Highland and Linda. Rich was always a great person to hang out with between shows and chat. He also taught my husband how to run the projectors and got him started working stage crew. His first stage crew job began driving up to the Coliseum in a snow storm, following Rich in his van, to work the Prince concert. One of just a few of the many fun memories we have of Rich. We will miss him just like the old theaters but will always have the memories. Sympathy to the family, Rich was a great guy and will all will miss him.

I met Richard (Rick to us) in college; we were interested in theater and of course, movies. I remember lo these many years later because he was such a great guy. I remember many of the wonderful college parties we attended with other friends. Thank you all for that amazing obituary for this wonderful man. Rest in Peace, Rick. Family and friends, please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss.
Roberta Campbell (Nehrenz).

Rich was the person who helped me to become a projectionist in the 1980's. At The Highland Theater, he was a great trainer and a generous and patient mentor. He really knew his stuff and imparted knowledge freely. We pray that our Heavenly Father may lessen the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memories of Rich. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. https://www.facebook.com/john.vinson.902/posts/10217905317122405

Cousin Richard showed us movies in the basement of his childhood home many moons ago. I also remember a drum concert he performed for us after Aunt Lee played the piano.
May god bless and keep you Richard.
