Obituary of Robert W. Haver

STOW – Robert W. Haver, 85, passed away on January 6, 2021, with many of his loving family gathered around praying for him, after a two-year battle with cancer. Bob was born in Akron on December 3, 1935, to Charles and Florence Haver. Bob graduated from Akron East High School, and the University of Akron (BME, Mechanical Engineering, ROTC) where he played on the first UA Men’s Soccer team. Bob met his sweetheart, Shirley M. Haver, in high school, and they were married March 9, 1957, and lived in Georgia, Texas, South Carolina, the Azores, and California while Bob served in the USAF (Captain) from 1958-1962. In 1962, they settled in Stow to raise their five children. Bob joined Hottle & Associates of Cuyahoga Falls in 1962, serving as the firm’s lead engineer his entire 58-year career, until his retirement in 2020. Bob served the community on various board positions, including Stow Youth Baseball, North Hill Baseball, Maplewood Park Swim Club, St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in North Hill, and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Bath. Bob loved to sing, and was always a member of the church choir, wherever he attended. Bob also served as a hospital visitation prayer minister and small group Bible Study leader. For the past 12 years, he has been a member at Fishcreek Nazarene Church in Stow. Bob was a dedicated, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family, and loved his Lord and Savior Jesus with all his heart. He was preceded in passing by his loving wife of 54 years, Shirley, and is survived by his dear children, Kenneth W. Haver (Judy) of Akron, Lora J. Haver of Columbia, SC, Dennis W. Haver (Tracy) of Stow, Lisa A. Foss (John) of Stow, and Charles W. Haver (Kristen) of Stow; and his fifteen precious grandchildren, Amber, Amy (Ozzie), Carly (Shawn), Bethany (Kyle), Jenny, Rob (Melissa), Joseph (Kate), Christa (Brent), Michael (Noelle), Anna, Josh, Katie, Nathan, Bree, and Becca, and nine great-grandchildren. A brief outdoor, drive-in celebration of life service will be held for friends and family on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 1:00 PM, at Fishcreek Nazarene Church, Stow, with Pastor Abe Williams officiating. In adherence with strict COVID-19 protocols, there will be no family visitation time, and all attendees are asked to remain inside their parked vehicles (service audio will be transmitted to nearby car radios). In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Fishcreek Nazarene Church, 4669 Fishcreek Road, Stow, OH 44224.
