CUYAHOGA FALLS - Wilbur R. Cook, 92, passed away January 6, 2021 due to complications from COVID-19. Born in Akron on April 5, 1928.
He graduated from Buchtel High School and Kent State University. Wilbur retired at the age of 75 from St. Luke’s Nursing Home. He wanted to remain active after retirement, so he volunteered at Summa Akron City Hospital, Firestone Golf Tournament, and Akron’s First Night.
Wilbur was a life long resident of Cuyahoga Falls who enjoyed taking walks around the neighborhood and at Chapel Hill Mall.
He valued education and a strong work ethic which he instilled in his children and grandchildren. Wilbur loved being around his family and traveling to Williamsburg, VA and Cocoa Beach, FL. He also enjoyed joking around with friends, family and had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling stories of his life. Wilbur liked to play cards, watch golf, and football while enjoying his favorite cheeseburger from Swenson’s.
Wilbur was preceded in death by his loving wife, Corinne S. Cook, who is happy to see him again! He is survived by his children; Leslie Cook, Gregory (Jodi) Cook, and Diane (Dave) Cogdeill; grandchildren, Abigail (Brad), Brighid, Christopher, Ryan, and Kylie, as well close family friend, Tammy.
