Benjamin Basone

Obituary of Benjamin Samuel Basone

AKRON - Benjamin S. Basone, 80, went home to be with the Lord February 24, 2021. Born in Akron, he was a lifelong area resident. Benjamin had been employed with B & W as a draftsman, retiring after more than 40 years of service. He was a member of The Chapel, Green Campus. Benjamin enjoyed woodworking, serving at The Chapel and spending time with his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Sam and Sonti Basone. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Basone; daughter, Chris (Scott) Moyers; sons, Paul, Greg, Jeff (Krista) Basone; grandchildren, Evan, Jacob and Cole Moyers; Trevor and Landon Basone; sister, Jean Ann (Richard) McDonald; brother, Pete (Nelda) Basone. Ben was a loving husband to his wife, Barb. They were going to be celebrating 60 years of marriage this April. Ben and Barb met in the 6th grade and Ben knew then that he wanted to be with Barb for the rest of his life. And that’s exactly how it played out because that was God’s plan. Ben was a good and caring father to his four children. He was a role model to them and showed what it means to love unconditionally, put others needs before his own, and how to live for Jesus. Ben was also a loving grandfather to his five grandchildren. He was devoted to being a part of their lives and impacting them. Ben’s heart was driven to serve others. Whether he was on a church missions trip, helping a friend, a family member, or a neighbor, he was always ready to lend a helping hand. Ben was a long standing member of The Chapel since 1972. His love for Jesus and others deepened and strengthened as he put his faith in God. He served as an usher for over 30 years. Calling hours will take place Friday, March 5th at 1:00 followed by Pastor Steve Bucy conducting a service at 2:00 at The Chapel, Green Campus, 1800 Raber Road, Uniontown, Ohio, 44685. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, memorials may be made to Haven of Rest, 175 E. Market Street, Akron, OH 44308 or The Gideons International, P.O. Box 97251, Washington, DC 20090-7251. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of CCAG for all their care and compassion.
