Obituary of James Everett Buxton
HUDSON - James Everett Buxton, 86, passed away at the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center surrounded by his family, March 4, 2021. Jim was born in 1934 in Ellicottville, New York to Anna and Everett Buxton.
He was raised in Warren, Ohio and graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1952. Jim went on to attend Case Western Reserve University where he played football, was an active member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and graduated with a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1956. He received his M.S. in Engineering Administration from Case Western Reserve University in 1962. Jim spent most of his professional career employed by Ferro Corporation in Cleveland.
During his fifty plus years as a resident of Hudson, Jim was an active member in his community serving as a village councilman, president of the Hudson City School District Board of Education, as well as PTO and Booster Club, and served as a board member of the Hudson Library and Historical Society. Jim was a Ford Model A car enthusiast. He restored a 1931 Ford Model A which he drove in numerous Hudson parades. Jim's other passion was his cottage on Atwood Lake where he hosted numerous gatherings with family and friends. Jim enjoyed tinkering around the cottage, cruising on the pontoon boat, and watching the sun set with a margarita in his hand.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Delores Bevan. Jim is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 64 years, Judy; three children, James B. Buxton (Kathi), Jeffrey B. Buxton, and Julie L. Arnold (William); five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the First Congregational Church of Hudson.
