Every memory I have of Ed Kube (and Maggie—you don’t often speak of one without mentioning the other) brings a smile to my face. Ed had a distinct speaking voice, unique to him alone, that made you happy just because he was around.
I can hear him calling out “mother” (Maggie) holding his empty coffee cup for her to see—or “Deanie Boy..” as he greeted my dad, or calling Ryter, his 4 legged companion. I loved watching Ed and Maggie “do life” much like my mom and dad did....such special marriages, committed partners who put God first. I remember hearing Maggie laugh as she told us that one of their friends said that Ed and Maggie’s wedding picture looked like Jerry Lewis and Imogene Coco. Bringing Ed a fresh cup of coffee on the early mornings I worked at an extended care facility (where he stayed for a short visit) was an honor! Ed never complained at all while he was there—he
was one of those rare tough guys that didn’t know how to complain. The Barkers and the Johnsons were blessed to have known Ed and Maggie and look forward to spending eternity with them and Jesus. Much love to all of you,
Becky Barker
