Also preceding her in death were her daughter Jeanette Downey, (who died on the same day in 2007), son-in-law Rich Murray, and brother James. Mary Jean was born on June 23,1926 to Jeanne and Stanley Bush. She was a graduate of North High School and lived her whole life in the Akron area. She worked briefly at Firestone, where she met Bob when he returned from World War II, then later at Stow-Kent O'Neils. She leaves behind her sons, Father Bob of Honduras and Larry (Sally) of Cuba, NY; daughter Chris (Bruce) Isler of Canton, and son-in-law and daughter-in-law Skip (Bev) Downey of Stow. She was the beloved grandma to 9 grandchildren; Tricia (Allen), Erin (Tim), Ryan (Krystal), Megan (Chris), Cheryl (Dave), Lisa (Mike), Steven (Christine), Danny (Carolyn), Michael (Sarah), and 24 great-grandchildren. Mary Jean loved Jesus - she said He was her best friend. She and Bob were long time members of Holy Family Catholic Church in Stow. She was also devoted to her family and loved spending time with all of them. She had many friends and especially enjoyed her "O'Neil" ladies, who met monthly for luncheons. She was a strong woman who endured many hardships in life but persevered in faith. She leaves behind a legacy of commitment to marriage, faith, finding laughter and joy in life, and devotion to family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends who loved her dearly.
