Obituary of Gregory Marvin Strach

Gregory Marvin Strach passed away July 17, 2021. Greg was born to Linda and Marvin Strach on November 26, 1963, in Detroit, Michigan. He is survived by father, Marvin, and stepmother, Cherie, siblings, Kathy (Jim), Carol, Coleen (Mark), and Tim (Christy), stepsister, Michelle, and nieces and nephews; Brendan, Ryan, Rory, Natalie, Allison, Leah, Sam, Claire, Wyatt, and William. Greg graduated from Stow High School in 1981 and earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Cleveland State University. He was employed by Goodyear Tire as a design engineer for 25 years and retired December 31, 2020. A truly beloved and special son, brother, uncle and friend, Greg was kind, caring, thoughtful and a fun big brother to his siblings, who all looked up to him. As a very close and loving family, there are countless, amusing and extremely fond memories of the family enjoying holidays, camping trips, spring breaks, annual vacations, and various trips to visit family in Michigan, Vermont, Maryland and Colorado. The family is grateful to have just spent their 28th family vacation together this past June. He will be so missed by all who were fortunate enough to enjoy his spirit, unconditional love, genuine interest in others and kindness towards all he met. Greg was an amazing uncle who was omnipresent at family events and always remembered to send birthday and holiday cards to his family members. He cherished the time spent watching sports, sharing laughs, and going on many trips and adventures together, with his nieces and nephews. Greg was a sports enthusiast and an avid runner, and for many years his weekends consisted of running races throughout Ohio including 5Ks, 10Ks and half marathons. He always stayed active bicycling, working out, and playing recreational sports. Most recently, he had been enjoying his daily hikes, playing cards with friends, following collegiate and professional sports, and, as always, spending time with his family. The family is comforted in knowing that Greg is together again with his loving mother, Linda, smiling down on their loved ones. Greg's family will have a private memorial service and celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the Haven of Rest Ministries, 175 East Market Street, Akron, Ohio 44308.
