Obituary of Michael T. Dettling
MUNROE FALLS – Michael T. Dettling, 79, affectionately known as “Gampy”, died July 20, 2021.
Born in Akron, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, retired from Chagrin Valley Country Club and worked at both Firestone Tire and Rubber Co., and Firestone Country Club.
His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his great-granddaughter Amelia.
Preceded in death by his wife Patricia Dettling, parents William and Elsie Dettling, brothers William, Jr., Richard and Eugene, he is survived by his daughter Julie Archer; grandchildren, Shannon (Jess) Archer and Kevin Archer; great-granddaughter Amelia; sisters Pat (John) Neikamp, Maryjane (Michael) Greenburg and Rosie (Richard) Del-Nostra; brother David Dettling; sisters-in-law Sue and Joanne Dettling.
Friends may call Sunday 4 to 6 PM at Redmon Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.
