Obituary of Barbara Hanson Diamond

STOW - Barbara Diamond, 78, died September 8, 2021. Barb was born August 6, 1943, and lived in the Stow vicinity her whole life. She graduated from Stow High School and attended Kent State University prior to her marriage to Jerry Diamond, the love of her life, at the age of 19 in 1962. Together, they had a beautiful family and life together. Barb was a devoted wife and mother and a loving and doting grandmother, not only to her grandchildren, but to many other children in the neighborhood and her grandchildrens' friends. Her children often say that she was unable to say the word “no” to her grandchildren. She was also an amazing friend, a generous neighbor and a sympathetic listener. She was admired for her organizational skills and was not shy about reminding you when a closet needed arranging. Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, her parents, Kathryn and Alden Hanson, Gerald and Marie “Babe” Diamond and her aunt and uncle, Mary and Denver Collins. She leaves her daughter, Debbie (Rusty) Dodd, and son, Matt (Heather) Diamond. She also leaves grandchildren Timothy Manley, Erin Dodd, Hunter and Heidi Timmons and Alysha Craven, her sister Janet (Joe) Vittorio of Columbus, Ohio, her sister Carolyn Towner of Worthington, Ohio, and her sister-in-law Bonnie (Al) Statts of Wolverine, Michigan. Barb was also adored by her nieces and nephews, Jodi Statts (Randall Mounts), Greg Statts (Kim Duncan), Lisa Towner, Jen (Chris) Weber and Josh (Laura) Novak and her numerous grandnieces and grandnephews. Friends are invited to the Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Sunday 2 to 4 PM, where Rev. Karen Drotar will conduct service Monday 10:30 AM. Interment Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
