Obituary of Mary Ann Kauffman
KENT - Mary Ann Kauffman, 88, died peacefully September 18, 2021, surrounded by her family.
Mary Ann was born in Ravenna, Ohio and lived her younger life in Florida. She returned to Ravenna as a young adult where she met her husband, Robert. They were wed on her birthday in 1957. Mary Ann was a loving and supportive wife and mother - always having a great dinner on the table and always ready to play a game of cards. She was a ball of energy and never pulled any punches with how she felt. Mary Ann loved animals and was always willing to feed all the animals wandering the neighborhood. She was a self-proclaimed dog trainer and always a penny pincher. Mary Ann enjoyed spending her weekends hitting up garage sales with her sister, Betty, getting lost more often than not and laughing the entire time. She survived a horrible car crash in 1995 that caused her retirement from Kent State Residence Services. She was so full of life and loved having family get togethers. Mary Ann loved hummingbirds and got her first tattoo, a hummingbird, at the age of 80.
Preceded in death by her two sisters, Edith and Betty; she is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert; daughters, Penny (Paul) Young, Kim (Bob) Balint; son, Doug (Stephanie) Kauffman; grandchildren, April, Jordan, Julia and Daniel, and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Koty, Hailey, Wyatt and Autumn.
Mary Ann will truly be missed in this life, but we take comfort in knowing that she is now pain free, dancing in heaven, reunited with her sisters, playing cards with her relatives, and watching over her family as our guardian angel.
There will be no public services. A private celebration of life is planned for her family.
