Chris was one of the warmest and most genuine people I have known. She will be dearly missed by her grandchild and myself, her former daughter-in-law. She was well traveled with some of her favorites being Italy, Spain, France, Netherlands, Belgium but one of her very favorite places being Germany. She was planning a trip there with her oldest granddaughter as a graduation present from high school in the upcoming year. Chris was called “Oma” to honor her German heritage and the love she felt for the country. She spent nearly 15 years living in Lake Tahoe at Cave Rock. She loved the mountains and even had a few bear sightings…don’t worry, I remember her reporting that they were small and only after a snack from the trash cans. She tended to be more concerned about her dogs well-being than her own when it came to bears and other mountain animals! Chris had a beloved dog named Libby, among many other well loved pups. She gave her pups meticulous care and love. Chris and Brian would make the long trek every year driving by car from Ohio to Lake Tahoe (arriving before the November election so she could cast her vote in person in Nevada for the Republican Party member, of course!) and back again in the spring, just to avoid having their beloved pup flown in the cargo section of an airplane! Chris belived that practice to be inhumane. Our Oma spent quality time with her grandchildren going to pumpkin patches, yankee peddler, street fairs, Italian fest, you name it, she was up for an adventure with them. She took her children and grandchildren on Disney cruises, to Disney world, and many other vacations, including spending time with her children and grandchildren in a Lake Tahoe. She loved to shop and gave her children and grandchildren the best gifts, many were “just because” gifts she’d pick up because it made her think of one of them. Our “Oma” will surely be missed…she was very special to us!
