Obituary of Steven H. Williams
STOW - Steven H. Williams, 62, went home to be with his Lord on December 29, 2021. He was surrounded by his family who ushered him into the presence of the Lord.
Steve was born in Birmingham, AL, on December 19, 1959. He graduated from Streetsboro High School in 1978 and Kent State University with a bachelor’s degree in Information Science. Steve and Kim married on August 7, 1982. He was a Stow resident for 26 years and retired from FirstEnergy in 2018 working in IT as a Senior Systems Engineer supporting thousands of devices across five states. Steve was affiliated with Love, Inc. and had been an active member of Stow Alliance Fellowship, where he most recently served as a deacon and treasurer.
Steve was especially knowledgeable about computers and finances. He was always looking for ways to be a good manager of the resources God asked him to manage. Steve enjoyed being outdoors and loved all kinds of animals. He had a special affection for dogs, particularly Golden Retrievers. He also enjoyed travelling and exploring creation, with a favorite location of his being Alaska. He liked to garden, go ATV riding, find a good bargain, and share Coblentz’s chocolate with family and friends. His keen sense of humor was sometimes surprising to many because of his generally reserved nature.
Steve will be remembered most for his selfless and patient service to others. He was generous with his time and resources and felt his Lord’s pleasure most when he was serving people. Steve used his skills and interests to help in numerous ways ranging from walking people through the purchase of computers to fit their specific needs, assisting with tax preparation, giving solid Biblical financial advice, mowing grass, chopping wood, raking leaves, shoveling snow, grocery shopping, attending to the needs of the elderly and opening his home for months at a time for friends and family to have a place to stay. He quietly loved many people extremely well.
Preceded in death by his parents Harold and Carol Williams, Steve is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kim; sister Sue (Norm) Armentrout; mother-in-law, Alice Weber; brother-in-law, Ken (Liz) Weber; sister-in-law, Dian (Bob) Harner; nieces and nephews, Judy (Steve) Grinder, Matt (Amanda) Harner, Mike (Kiley) Harner, Megan (Mike) Thompson, Ed (Kelsey) Armentrout, Kimberly Armentrout and Katie Armentrout; 8 great-nieces and nephews, Emma, Michael and Tristan Harner, Shane Harner, and Mackenzie, Morgan, Micah and Mason Thompson, and dear family friends, Dhiraj and Kavita Sankala and their children, Saloni and Sanjana.
