Obituary of Edwin H. Williams
STOW - Edwin H. Williams, 97, died peacefully January 9, 2022.
He was born May 22, 1924, in Barberton, Ohio, the son of Goldie Robichad and stepfather, Joe Robichad.
Ed graduated from Barberton High School, Class of 1942. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Navy in World War II as a Radarman Second Class. Ed served aboard the USS Terry DD 513, a Fletcher Class Destroyer and was awarded several decorations and citations. He was released from active duty on December 27, 1945. After the war, he went to work at his parent's diner, Joe’s Diner in Akron, Ohio. On July 5, 1946, he married his forever sweetheart, Willa B (Sutton) Williams, and they settled in Cuyahoga Falls, then later in Stow, Ohio. They celebrated 74 years of marriage on July 5, 2021.
Ed joined Chrysler Corporation in 1950 and was promoted to Production Superintendent Mfg. Executive. He retired in 1984 at the age of 60. Ed enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle for many years with his wife, Willa. He was a member of the Shriner Temple for many years. He also enjoyed all of the many Chrysler/Dodge vehicles, he owned over the many years.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, E. Sue (Williams) Testa. He is survived by his wife, Willa B. (Sutton) Williams, son, Gary Williams, and his wife, Joyce of Cuyahoga Falls; six grandchildren, Sherry Morris (Danny), Deborah Thomas (Kurt), Pamela Lusher, Regina Gordon (Jerry), Joanna Olson (Dave), Taffy Congrove (Michael); eleven great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren, and his beloved cat, Duke.
Pastor Mike Ward will conduct service 11 AM Monday at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow. Friends may call from 9 AM to service time. Graveside service will be held 10 AM Tuesday at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, OH 44273.
