Obituary of Walter Jones

STOW - Walter “Wally” Jones, 67, dear husband of Lisa Jones, (nee Hoppstock), and father of Kevin (Lauren) Jones and Erin (Justin) Ellis, passed away January 11, 2022, after a lengthy illness. Wally was born in 1954 and grew up in the Akron area, graduating from St. Vincent-St. Mary’s High School in 1972. He studied music at Kent State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education, and a Master’s in Clarinet Performance. Wally enjoyed playing with the Canton Symphony for many years. Most of his career was spent in the photographic sales industry, working for Tru-Foto, Konica, and Kodak. Later in his career, Wally sold children’s books and computer programs to libraries in the Ohio area, where he enjoyed visiting with all of his clients. His hobbies included racquetball and any kind of physical fitness activities. In 1989, he married his wife of 32 years, Lisa. They made their home for a short while in North Canton, then moved to Maine, finally settling in Stow. Lisa remained his devoted wife and caregiver throughout his illness. Wally was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and Thomas Jones. In addition to his wife and children, Wally is survived by his brother, Ronald (Norene) Jones of Stow, and sister, Mary McKee of Melbourne, FL. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. A private service will be held at a later date.
