Obituary of Sarafima Mong (Malinoff)

STOW - Sarafima Mong (Malinoff), age 86, passed away January 24, 2022, after a brief struggle with cancer. Most knew her as “Sara” from her 46-year career at the Tangier Restaurant. She knew everything there was to know about her work and her customers and always strived to meet their needs with perfection. Her skills earned her recognition by the Sales & Marketing Executives of Akron. She also served on the board of directors at St. Thomas Eastern Orthodox Church in Akron where she was a member. She and her husband, Charles, owned and operated Mong’s Food Concessions for many years. In addition to running their concession business at the Stow Youth Baseball fields, their work adventures took them to many well-known events including the Father’s Day Car Show at Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens, all the way to the West Palm Beach Polo Club, to name a few. Following her retirement from Tangier’s, she started her retirement careers with Laurel Lake Retirement Community and Fox Den Golf Course in Stow until she was 84 years young. Everyone knew she was a diligent worker that never wasted time being idle. She lived her life to its fullest and enjoyed traveling, golfing, dancing, and just being with her family and friends. Sarafima, daughter of immigrants from Macedonia, Vangel and Paulexania Malinoff (deceased), was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L., infant daughter, Donna, infant son, Charles, Jr., and sister, Dorothy Rodríguez. She leaves behind her five children: Doris Stewart; Albert Mong (Arlene); Diane Stewart (James); Paulexania McCaulley (Craig); Christina Schuessler (Kurt); sixteen grandchildren and their spouses; fifteen great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren, brother-in-law, Manuel Rodríguez; niece, Donna Balc, and nephew, Rodney Rodriguez, along with many friends, co-workers, and extended family.
