Obituary of Jean Keller

STOW - Jean Keller, 84, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2022. Born June 8, 1937, in Roanoke, VA to the late George and Cleo Gilliand, Jean spent most of her childhood years in Meadville, PA, before finding her husband of 44 years, Jim, and becoming a permanent resident in the Akron/Stow area. Living most of her adult life in Stow, Ohio, Jean was a member of the United Methodist Church in Stow, and utilized most of her talents and energy into making the perfect home, raising her three sons, making countless trips to baseball, soccer, football and track practices, games and events. Not especially known for her love of cooking, Jean was a woman of rather simple tastes and pleasures. Cheerios for breakfast, chip chop ham, potato chips, and Keebler fudge stripe cookies for lunch, and dinner at the Café in Stow! She was a passionate sports fan to her Stow Bulldogs, Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns, Indians and Cavaliers, watching whatever game was on TV each and every night. Off nights, a stray hockey game was not even out of reach. Those who knew Jean well, also know she was not a stranger to conversation, long conversations! Frequently catching humor from the men that lived with her over “breaking her own record" time and time again for the lengthy phone calls she would have with some of her most loved and trusted friends, many of whom formed the “Out to Lunch Bunch” in her twilight years. Though we have been saying our long goodbyes to you these past ten years, you will forever be on our minds and in our hearts. We love you and will miss you. Preceded in death by her husband, Jim, Jean is survived by brothers, Richard (Claudia) and Edward (Jane) Gilliand of Meadville, PA; sons, Scott (Karen) Keller of Hudson, Keith (Jodie) Keller of Kent, Brian (Denise) Keller of Stow; six cherished, granddaughters: Kayla, Karly, Abbey, Emmalee, Katie and Maddie; step grandson, Alex; step granddaughter, Lindsey (Chris), and two step great grandchildren, Christian and Cassidy. The family invites neighbors and friends to celebrate Jean’s life and friendship with them during calling hours on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 from 4-7 P.M. at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, Ohio 44224. A private funeral service will be held with interment on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at Rose Hill Burial Park in Fairlawn, Ohio.
