SILVER LAKE - Pat Ciccantelli, Sr., age 84, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2022. He was born August 3, 1937, in Akron, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pasquale (Patsy) and Margaret Ciccantelli and sister, Sandy Tuck. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 64 years, Wanda (Eads) Ciccantelli; his sisters, Jeannette Oldland and Madlyn Ciccantelli; his children, Pat (Lynn) Ciccantelli, Scott (Marie) Ciccantelli, and Tricia (Mike) Potts; his grandchildren, Jennifer (Austin) Pirtle, Dan (Danielle) Ciccantelli, Brian Ciccantelli, Derek Potts, Kari Potts, Kristin Potts, and Patrick Ciccantelli; his great grandchildren, Tylar and Aila Pirtle and Emilia Ciccantelli. Pat graduated from Akron North High School in June 1955. He was known at his alma mater as “Big Cyr.” He was a multi-sport athlete and received a scholarship to play football at The University of Akron. He spent his professional career at National City/PNC Bank working as a loan officer. Pat loved comfortable things; his recliner, winters in Florida, causal clothes, conversion vans, and most of all, food. Especially Italian food. He enjoyed playing cards and all things sports. He was a lifelong Detroit sports fan, including the Lions, Tigers, Pistons, and Red Wings. He was a fast pitch softball enthusiast, coaching for more than 40 years. He took two teams to the national tournament and was inducted into the Summit County and Ohio Softball Halls of Fame. He also loved promoting basketball. He organized amateur leagues, tournaments, and camps. He was named the USSSA Basketball Director of the Year in 2004. He and longtime friend, Jack Miller, founded the All-American Cage Classic to showcase high school talent from around the country. He continued to promote amateur basketball as the Director of the Solon Cage Classic. He ran these tournaments for 48 years. Pat loved his family, he spent many hours watching his children and grandchildren play sports; and enjoyed the many homes they had over the years. He will be dearly missed by his family and the many lives he touched along the way. Memorial service will be held Sunday 4:00 PM at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, where friends may call from 2:00 PM until service time.
