Obituary of Richard Jackson
Richard J. Jackson, age 88, formerly of Newtown Square, PA., died peacefully on April 8th at the Hudson Elms in Hudson, OH. Beloved husband of Marjorie for 66 years; father of Jill (Jesse) Cantrill of Bethesda, MD., Lyn (David) Thomas of Hudson, and Amy (Paul) Partridge of Carmel, IN, Rich also was the grandfather of Drew and Samantha Partridge, Hugh (Tara) Brown, and Ben (Kelly Ross) Brown, and the great-grandfather of Reese and Ryleigh Brown. Rich was loved by five step-grandchildren Merryn (Scott) Hawthorne, Gwen (Brian) Nichols, Matt (Jenn) Thomas, Andrew (Lori) Thomas and Sara (Brian) Nelson plus six step great-grandchildren. Rich leaves his niece Deborah (Rick) Morgan of Davidsonville, MD., grand-niece Jennifer Morgan, and nephew David Jackson of Baltimore, MD.
During WW II Rich served in the U.S. Army as a mechanic in Italy. He graduated from Villanova as an electrical engineer and had a long career at Burroughs-Unisys where he developed air traffic control systems. Rich loved jazz, gardening, ballroom dancing, and finished 14 marathons including Boston (2), New York (2), Philadelphia, and San Francisco. After moving to Hudson in 2008, Marge and Rich enjoyed worship and fellowship at Hudson Community Chapel and their many friends at the Hudson Elms.
A memorial service will be held 11 AM on April 24th at the Hudson Community Chapel, 750 w. Streetsboro St., Hudson, OH 44236. Memorials may be made to Bikes for the World, www.bikesfortheworld.org.
