Obituary of Rosy Berkey
Rosy “Fritzie” E. Berkey, 87, formerly of Friedens died January 26, 2010 at Traditions Nursing Home, Cuyahoga Falls, OH. Born September 28, 1922 in Stonycreek Twp., daughter of Earl and Mable (Hunter) Fritz.
Preceded in death by parents; husband Alfred; and brother: Ray Will.
Survived by sons: James and wife Sharon of Somerset, and
Douglas and wife Deborah of Munroe Falls, Ohio;
Grandchildren: Anthony, Chad, Bradley (Melissa), Jessica, and Sarah Berkey;
Great grandchildren: Mason and Addison Berkey; and
Sister: Linetta Hamer, Friedens.
Graduate of Shanksville Stonycreek High School and Windber Hospital Nursing School. She was a W.W. II Army nurse.
Former nurse at Somerset Hospital and Somerset State Hospital. She owned and operated Berkey’s Camp Hartley in Bedford along with her husband.
Member of Friedens Lutheran Church, and Somerset County Nurses Association. The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the nursing staff at Traditions Nursing Home, and Visiting Nurse Hospice.
Family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Friedens Lutheran Church, in Friedens, PA and 10 am until service at 11a.m. Saturday at the church. Rev. Edward V. DeVore officiating. Interment Somerset County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to Friedens Lutheran Church Community Ministry Fund, 131 S. Main St., Friedens, Pa. 15541, or Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, Ohio 44333.
