Obituary of George R. Porosky
George R. Porosky, 73, died July 14, 2015. Born in Akron, he retired as a tire engineer from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in 2002 with 37 years of service. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ where he served on the church council and the usher’s league and was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity as a collegiate, alumnus, advisor and national officer. George served many years as a member of the University of Akron sports statistician crew.
Preceded in death by his parents John and Anna and brother David Porosky, he is survived by his wife of 50 years Barbara, son Jim (Shelley), daughters Beth (Kenneth) Wayman, Jill Porosky, grandchildren, Megan, Grant, Matt and Nate, sister Kathleen (James) Bachtel, brother Ronald (Janet) and many family members and friends.
Friends are invited to the Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Friday from 4 to 7 PM. Rev. Dr. Carl Wallace will conduct a memorial service at Trinity United Church of Christ, 915 N. Main St., Akron, OH 44310 Saturday 1 PM. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Trinity United Church of Christ.
