STOW — Bernard “George” Nehlsen, age 68, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015.
George was a graduate of Mogadore High School and Bowling Green State University. He served in the United States Army with the 82nd Airborne Division as a MP. He achieved the rank of Sergeant and earned the National Defense Service Medal as well as the Parachute Badge.
George loved fishing (Boundary Waters), sports and spending time with his dog Hoopster. At one time, he held the course record at Shawnee Golf Course (now Raccoon Hill). Above all else he enjoyed spending time with his family. He spent many years coaching his three sons in various sports and taking his family on vacations all over the United States and Canada. George loved being with his four grandchildren and found great joy in their happiness. His retirement years gave him enormous pleasure where he was able to devote time to fun trips and the simple pleasures with his wife.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Debra, and their three sons, Brian (Heather) Nehlsen, Darren (Ha) Nehlsen, and Sean (Katy) Nehlsen.
