Dear Family Members of Coach Grosse, My condolences and prayers to you as well as to Mr. and Mrs. Grosse as they move forward together in the afterlife. I was a player of Coach at Kent Roosevelt, though admittedly not a very good player - a 135 pound second teamer. I always respected and looked up to him as a mentor and teacher. My years as a member of the Roosevelt football team are proud memories for me, credit must be given to the leadership of Coach Grosse as well as to his staff. As a side note, I have dedicated my career to coaching football and in shaping young people's lives. This path would not have happen if not for the intervention of Coach Grosse. It was the Fall of 1977 during my student teaching experience at RHS when this event occurred. Mr. Grosse was serving as the athletic director and for some reason he decided to introduce me to the new, young head football coach - John Nemec. "Jim, have you ever thought about coaching, maybe you could help this new coach out". I'm not sure how much I helped out that Fall, but Coach Nemec has seemed to do pretty well for himself. A new experience - a career - a life in coaching; all started for me when Coach Grosse took the time to reach out to a former back-up player of his. Thank you Coach - I've tried to make you proud throughout the years!

My heartfelt condolences to all of you. Your dad was one of a kind and was always there for you when needed. Dave was always behind his coaches and know that all of them - respected him and appreciated all that he tried to do for them. It is truly sad to lose someone so well loved by the Kent community. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers and may God Bless each of you..

Dave Grosse, my dear friend, co-worker has been a very big part of my life. He brought such happiness and fun throughout the halls of Roosevelt. He was so supportive to coaches and students. Such a macho guy with a warm heart. I was so fortunate to share so many years with him. Definitely an exceptional man who I will miss and treasure memories with him. Thank you to the Grosse family for sharing him with RHS! My deepest sympathy to all family and friends!

I wanted to express my deepest condolences for your loss. May you find comfort in our Heavenly Father, the 'hearer of prayer', as well as the promise from his word the bible of a resurrection. Psalm 65:2, Acts 24:15.
The day will come when you will see David again. Where 'death will be no more. Neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore'. (Revelation 21:4) Instead of a brief life filled with pain, we can enjoy an endless life! (Psalm 37:29)
Until then, understand that our God hates death, and views it as an enemy. This was not what he wanted for your loved one. (1 Corinthians 15:26) Rather, 'God is love' and cares deeply about you and your loss. -1 John 4:8; 1 Peter 5:7.
This article "When a Loved One Dies" has brought me comfort, and I pray it will do the same for you.

Coach Grosse had a very positive influence on my life, and many more young men in Springfield and Kent. He encouraged us to be better every day. He welcomed us into his home and showed us an example of a great family. I am a better person because Coach Grosse took a personal interest in my development. His short stint at Springfield before returning to Kent was so fortunate for a proud group of Spartans. My condolences to the Grosse family for your loss.

Most sincere condolences to all of Dave's family. I've met Dave and Barb when they came down to Florida to see Jo Ann and Family. In fact, Jo Ann felt a bond to my deceased husband since he reminded her so much of Dave....not only in expressions, etc., but also the fact that they were two of a kind............both taught 32 years, football coaches, etc. So now Dave is joined with Barb again in heaven, and for that we all have to rejoice. The suffering is over. Rest in Peace, Dave.......you will be missed!
