Obituary of Thomas Lee Hider

Thomas Lee Hider, 73, of Stow, Ohio, passed away on December 9, 2016 in Fairlawn, Ohio at the Hospice Care Center after a four month battle with Lymphoma.   Thomas “Tom” was born in Akron, Ohio, graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School and attended Kent State University. Tom had a passion for cars and spent several years working at Jaguar of Cleveland and Fred Goddard Ford in sales and management where he was often recognized as the top salesman. After leaving the automobile industry, he finished his career as a mortgage broker.     He is preceded in death by his father, Gerald Hider and his brother, Gerald Hider Jr. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carolyn; his sons, Eric (Sabrina), Brian (Teresa), Kevin, Marc (Megan) and Aaron; six grandchildren, Nolan, Maren, Ashlyn, Logan, Lauryn and Landon; and his mother, Ellen (105 years young).   Tom will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, five sons, six grandchildren and close friends, John and Monica. Tom’s greatest achievement was raising a family and spending time with his kids and grandkids. Family vacations would often be spent at the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Tom was known for his unique sense of fashion which included worn out slippers and pajama pants. In his later years, Tom could often be found on the floor with a pile of young grandkids wrestling with him. Tom loved to interact with people and was known for turning a stranger into a friend.     Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Rd, Stow, OH, where calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 13 from 5 to 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 14 at 10 am followed by a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Prayers from Maria, Children Glioma Cancer Foundation or Akron General Visiting Nurse Service.
