Obituary of Gwendolyn Ruth Sinibaldi

Gwendolyn Ruth (Fender, Surgen) Sinibaldi, 86 of Stow, Ohio passed away peacefully on February 23, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.  Gwen was born in Akron, Ohio to George and Sarah (Weston) Fender on March 19, 1930. She went to East High School and graduated in 1949. For over 20 years, she lived on Oxford Avenue in Akron while raising her five children. During that time, she worked at Ohio Edison, Kochs and General Tire and Rubber, where she met Frank. They married in 1980 and moved to Westwood, NJ. After 28 years, they moved back to Ohio. She loved sewing, quilting, gardening, decorating, arts and crafts. Her greatest joy in life was her children and grandchildren. She had a way of making everyone feel special and important. She brought out the beauty in anyone lucky enough to be in her light! Heaven just got a little sweeter. Gwen is survived by her husband Frank Sinibaldi of Stow, OH, son Scott Surgen of Woodcliff Lake, NJ, daughters, Chris (Dragi) Simonovski of Munroe Falls, OH, Theresa (Marty) Murphy of Emerson, NJ, Jackie Surgen of Lodi, NJ, and step-son Kevin Sinibaldi of Virginia Beach, VA, grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew and Lyn Simonovski, Ryan, Kristen and Kathleen Murphy, brothers Ed and Tom Fender. She is preceded in death by daughter Lyn Rae Surgen, father George Fender, mother Sarah Fender, sister Elizabeth Jean Watson. Friends and family are invited to Redmon Funeral Home in Stow Ohio, where calling hours will be held on Monday February 27 between 4 and 7 PM. Funeral services will be held on February 28 at 12 noon at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1361 West Market Street, Akron, OH 44313. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park, 3653 West Market Street, Akron OH, 44333. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Lyn Rae Surgen to St. Jude Hospital, P.O.
