Obituary of Marjie G. Origlio
Marjie Origlio (nee Grissom) a long-time resident of Stow, Ohio passed away quietly on September 13th, 2017. She was 70 years old.
She was born in Akron, Ohio, on July 20, 1947. The 11th of 12 children, she grew up in Hudson, Ohio on her family’s dairy farm on Aurora Road. Marjie attended Hudson High School and Kent State University.
After graduating, she worked at the Hudson Library and Historical Society for 32 years. Marjie Origlio known by many simply as Mrs. “O”, served as the children’s and young adult librarian. She was well known as a children’s story teller at the Library, at the local community schools, and library events across Summit County.
After retiring in August of 2002, she continued story telling at the Hudson Methodist Church Preschool and St. Mary Catholic Church Preschool in Hudson.
Marjie had lifelong friendships and was loved by everyone who knew her. She loved gardening and was a fan of all the Cleveland sports teams and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Leah Lay Grissom, and by her sisters, Ann Clewell, Norma Jean Richter, Sue Thomas, and Alice Patricia McGrath. She is survived by her husband, John; brothers, John Grissom, James (Elaine) Grissom, Donald (Marilyn) Grissom, Jack (Nancee) Grissom, and Jerry (Peggy) Grissom; sisters, Sandra Skinner, and Deborah Grissom; brothers-in-law, George Thomas, and Patrick McGrath; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Marjie was a dedicated aunt who found joy in the accomplishments of her nieces and nephews and loved them all.
The family thanks the Doctors, Nurses and staff of the Summa Physicians Gynecologic Oncology Group, Summa Oncology 7 East & 7 West, the Summa Cooper Cancer Center and Summa Hospice at Home for the attentive care that Marjie received.
Friends may call at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, Ohio on Monday, September 18, 2017 from 4-8 PM. Deacon Rick Grissom will conduct service Tuesday at 10 AM. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to the Hudson Library and Historical Society Children’s Room.
