Obituary of David Morrison Hawley
David M. Hawley, 89, passed away peacefully at home August 22, 2018. He was born in Dayton, Ohio in 1929 to William and Corien. He proudly served in the Marine Corps from 1951 to 1953. He was a charter member of Northminster Presbyterian Church in Cuyahoga Falls. He worked as a teacher and counselor for Akron Public Schools for 30 years, retiring in 1991. He enjoyed attending high school ball games with his friends, volunteering for the National Park and the YMCA, spending winters in Ft. Myers with his wife Julia, and playing cornhole with fellow residents in his retirement community in Aurora. He especially liked helping his family and friends, and was a loving husband and father who was proud of the children he raised in Cuyahoga Falls.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Julia (Rolph); sons Stephen of Macedonia, Daniel of Columbia, South Carolina; daughter Jill Brown (Ken) of Aurora; grandson Joshua Katzinski of Alliance; and brother Dean of Tucson, Arizona.
The family will receive visitors August 28 from 4 to 7 pm at Redmon Funeral Home. A military burial service will take place at the Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date. The family suggests donations to Northminster Presbyterian Church or the YMCA in Cuyahoga Falls.
