My deepest condolences on the death of my old friend. Paul and i grew up together in Belmont sharing school time at St. Joseph and Boston College. Our families were very close and i spent many weeks with the Deastlov family at their summer cottage in New Hampshire. As the class correspondent for BC I just received a note of his passing which lead me to this obituary. Paul was a good friend whom i admired very much. One of my last memories of Paul was at a 77th birthday party for my dad held in a large banquet room in 1972. Paul led in the birthday cake dressed in his full fireman gear.
We lost contact after his move to Ohio. it was nice to read of Paul's success.
We lost a marvelous caring man. May he rest in peace.

Just came across this obituary while refreshing family tree. We are very sorry to hear of Paul's passing. Our sincere condolences to all the family.
We remember meeting Paul at the family home in Boston and how hospitable he was to us and the fun we had together.

I'm sorry for your loss, I knew Paul only by the internet, we never spoke..he started commenting on my photos of activities of the Boston Fire Dept a few years ago...After I posted a photo or photos, sure enough a day or so later I would hear a few words, always positive...but sometimes questions...and maybe a memory about our beloved BFD Chaplain, the late Msrg James Keating who he knew from St Sebastian's in Newton...I miss his comments...and thanks for allowing my few comments

Paul was always a welcoming, fun and entertaining person. My memories of his singing while playing the guitar and piano at the lake are cherished ones.

So sorry for the family loss. I remember as a child being carried fireman style upside down over Paul's shoulder. That must have been a precursor to his love as a volunteer fireman. His love of music led many of us to pursue music lessons. But no one could compete with him.
I wish in the past years we could have remained closer. But distance does not help.
Love to the whole family. Hopefully those wonderful times together will ease the loss in your lives.
