Obituary of Victor S. Artese
Victor S. Artese, of Hudson, 76, passed from this life on November 4, 2018.
A loving, devoted, and giving father, brother, and husband, he is survived by his wife Sarah; daughter Nicki of University Hts.; son Victor of Cincinnati; and his sisters Elizabeth Boyle of Denver, CO, and Delores Trestik of Casper, WY.
Vic was born Jan. 25, 1942 in Denver, the fifth child of Ross John Artese and Finitza Lucia Mariano of Denver. Vic graduated from Regis High School in Denver in 1959. He earned a baseball scholarship to St. Mary’s College in Moraga, California and completed his undergraduate degree in Economics at Regis College in Denver. He went to work for United Airlines in 1963, where he met a “stewardess” from Ohio named Angela Cerce. Vic entered Naval Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island, where he graduated top of his class and received orders to the U.S.S Canberra Guided Missile Cruiser stationed in San Diego, California, aboard which he served three tours of duty in Vietnam as a combat information officer. Vic and Angela married in the autumn of 1965 at St. Clare Church in Lyndhurst, Ohio, and had their first child, Nicolette, in San Diego in the summer of 1966. Vic elected to extend his military service for two more years as an instructor at the Naval Anti-Air Warfare Training Center, while attending San Diego State Graduate School of Business at night. Vic and Angela then moved the family to Ohio where Victor, Jr. was born in 1968. Vic spent the next 20 years working at two Wall Street investment firms and in the financial services industry, and the following 30 years as a natural gas broker. Angela passed away in 2011, and Vic married Sarah Nice in January, 2017.
Vic and Sarah enjoyed gardening, fine dining and group bible study, and loved to travel and see the world together. In addition to spending time with his wife and family, Vic was an experienced woodworker, master cabinetmaker, and avid golfer with two hole-in-ones to his credit. Vic will be forever loved as a hero to his country and family, and will be deeply missed.
