Obituary of Kathleen Ann Hutchinson

Kathleen Ann (Brehm) Hutchinson, 72, formerly of Stow, died unexpectedly March 15, 2019. Born in Akron, she was a resident of Bath since 1976. After graduating from Stow High School in 1964, Kathy began working full time for Morgan Adhesives in accounting for nearly ten years. After locating to Bath, worked as a part time bookkeeper for Bethel Realty for well over 20 years.

Kathleen was the footing and foundation and leading light for Blake, Doug and Steven throughout her life, and those lessons learned will live on. She challenged her family to be better, to do better on a regular basis. Her interests included: cooking for family, baking with her grandson, crossword puzzles, flowers, music, reading, walking and a casual margarita or glass of wine. She was an avid TV entertainment fan. Blake lost nearly every battle for the family room remote control. Kathy cherished walking the local parks, the East Coast beaches, the scenic hills and the western desert with family and friends. She walked regularly throughout the year with her sisters (Arlene and Geri), and enjoyed the shopping and/or dining that oftentimes followed. Kathy cherished family gatherings, and family and class reunions brought her great pleasure. Kathleen's passion for golf is well known to family and many friends. Her passing so unexpectedly has been devastating to all.

Within the past six months Kathy succeeded in overcoming early stage one breast cancer and had recently completed the post-surgery radiation therapy that followed, and was looking forward to the upcoming golf season.

During the past six years or so, she became a second mother and grandmother to many of Doug and Linley's neighborhood friends. The family greatly appreciates the ongoing love given to Kathleen by Doug and Linley's neighbors as you all were part of our extended family. Likewise, the family will forever appreciate and cherish to this day the love and bond that exists between Kathleen and several of Steven's closest friends and extended family members. Our 1st grade grandson (Jordy) and Kathleen so much enjoyed the many hours of mowing together on the Cub Cadet garden tractor.

Kathleen is survived by her husband of 49 years, Blake; sons Douglas (Linley) and Steven; grandson Jordy; brother Richard (Joy) Brehm and sisters Arlene (Richard) Stegal and Geri (Donald) Hibbard, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She led a remarkable life and was admired and loved by so many friends and acquaintances. Kathy and Blake were able to have completed much of their target "bucket list."

A Celebration of Life and Memorial gathering will be held a short distance from Kathleen and Blake's home at one of the family's favorite "retreats" (Allardale Park) a 388 acre park located in Granger Twp. off of Remsen Road. The referenced gathering is now set for Friday, April 12 from approximately 4:30PM - 8:30PM. This event is open to all friends, classmates, Kathy's golf group, neighbors and family acquaintances.

The event will be held at The Lodge at Allardale, 141 Remsen Road (Allardale Park East entrance is located about 1/4 mile west of North Medina Line Road), Granger Township, 44256.

Per family wishes, in lieu of flowers, individual donations to either of the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association would be suggested.

Note: Blake, Doug and Steve are most grateful for the dozens and dozens of phone calls and sympathy cards the family has received to date since Kathy's passing nearly two weeks ago.
