Dennis Altieri

Obituary of Dennis D. Altieri

STOW - Dennis D. Altieri, 68, died from complications of Covid 19 on November 27, 2021, which would have been his father’s 99th birthday. Born in Akron, he graduated from Stow High School in 1971, attended Akron University, and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Dennis continued the family business, Altieri’s Pizza, that his parents established in 1965, which feels “justa like yesterday” retiring in 2017. Dennis was an active member in the community as the secretary of the Stow FOPA for many years, former President of the Akron Area Restaurant Association, and most recently, proudly serving the City of Stow as a member of Stow City Council. Preceded in death by his parents, Earl and JoAnn Altieri, he is survived by his sister, Mary Altieri (Chuck Kabacinski); brother, Patrick (Mary) Altieri; nephews, Kelly (Julie) Swiney, Dominick (Ashley), and Anthony (Sarah) Altieri, and great-nephew and great-niece, Will and Rose Swiney. Dennis was close with his extended family which included so many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Dennis’ family extended past blood lines with his amazing group of close friends. As charter member of The Wetmore Street Gang, “Greasy Boy”, will be missed by so many that called him brother, “Haaaaaa”. Dennis’ legacy will continue under the great leadership of his longtime friend’s son and now Altieri’s Pizza owner, Matt Barkis, which we know he will be eternally proud of Matt’s success. In keeping with Dennis’ wishes, there will be no calling hours. Mass of the Christian Burial Monday, 11 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 3179 Kent Road, Stow OH, 44224. For everyone's safety, please be aware that masks are required and the family asks that those attending be vaccinated. The Mass will be live streamed at holyfamilystow.org. Private burial Northlawn Memorial Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, www.cff.org/give-monthly
